How ASA Sentinel scores risk

ASA Sentinel checks technical control over an Algorand asset — who can change its rules, freeze accounts, claw back balances, or move supply. It does not evaluate price, liquidity, team reputation, or intent.

What gets checked

Control rights

Manager, freeze, clawback and reserve addresses; role overlaps and default-frozen status.

Recent changes

Configuration, freeze and clawback events alongside authority-account rekey status, within a stated round window.

Holder data

Holder count, creator share and an explicit statement of coverage — when the indexer didn't return the full holder set, the report says so and treats the numbers as a lower bound, not a total.

Known-address labels

Curated issuer associations are labels, never an endorsement or a security guarantee — a recognized issuer can still act adversarially with rights it legitimately controls.

Risk levels

LOWNo active risk factors found by the current ruleset, and the underlying data was complete.

MEDIUMSome risk signal is present — for example incomplete holder data on its own, or a recognized issuer holding several control roles.

HIGHOne or more high-severity findings: for example an unrecognized clawback or freeze authority, strong central control, or a recent change to a control right.

UNKNOWNAn active control right exists but no rule in the catalogue evaluates it, or a lookup the ruleset depends on failed. UNKNOWN is not LOW — it means there wasn't enough signal to reach a conclusion, not that the asset is safe.

Versioned rules, inspectable evidence

Every risk level comes from a fixed ruleset. Each finding carries the address, transaction, or chain round used to reach it.

Uncertainty is an outcome

UNKNOWN means the available indexer data could not support a reliable conclusion. It is never treated as a clean bill of health, and it is not interchangeable with LOW.
